So it is a great jewel in the city. An awarding winning soul food place faces the park. A great spot for Friday fish day that is Supreme. A food market which is packed with a lot of the spirit of the city. A guy selling music bikes down the street. A guy jogs up it.
This was my last year project. This year I am supporting this area through the tools of social media.
Auburn Ave is the historical King District. It is the place that Dr.King grew up. A place for inspiration, community, and business. Over time it has just become the place for the King Center. I am hoping to change it. I want it a place you Have an after five drink after a long day. A place of inside play and inspiration for a child. A gathering for a community issue. A wedding, a small one comes out of a restaurant.
A newspaper last year with good intentions thought it was a forgotten spot.
Many feel like it is just a tourist place.
I say this is a neighborhood.
A teenager walks with headphones in August with youth and determination.
I smile on a bench. Hope.
The Street Car has brought hope to the area. More people by fifthy percent or more are experiencing this history. Besides people just like a new thing. So it is a new way and a faster way to get there. No need to get ten or more for a fan or forty or more for a tour bus. My hope with faith I will get the college student at Georgia State for a muffin. A business group for lunch at the Lounge.
There is a space for a bed or breakfast. Next year, next chapter.
A place for inspiration. Much needed as the country is still divided. With current events a place that promotes peace is refreshing.
They said no one can find it. So off to print out maps next week and later to send out postcards.
Welcome to the neighborhood.
